Motorola DEFY+: Defying the Conventions of Mobile Smartphone Technology by Richard Steele
Last year marked the formal launch of the original Motorola DEFY. The Motorola Defy was the first smartphone from the company to make a serious assault on the European market. For quite some time, the European market has been dominated by Samsung. The introduction of Motorola DEFY posed a serious threat on the dominant mobile phone companys share in the market. There is no doubt that DEFY is a superb smartphone that has grabbed a huge segment of the market by the throat. This year, however, there is a proof that Motorola is not satisfied with the performance of DEFY. The launching of the Motorola DEFY+ mobile phone is a proof of that.
Now, what makes the DEFY+ more advanced than its predecessor? To answer that question, you must first understand its new selling proposition. The Motorola DEFY+, compared to the original version, has more rugged and fuller features. This Android smartphone is intended to appeal on users who find standard smartphones quite a bit fragile.
Despite the fact that DEFY performed brilliantly in terms of sale, there is no denying the fact that it has two major weaknesses. First off, the DEFY has a slow processor. At 800 MHz, it tends to perform a bit slower than its contemporary does. Second, the operating system of the original DEFY runs merely on Android 2.2 rather than the 2.3 version, which is the latest. These two main weaknesses make the DEFY a bit flawed for more demanding users.

The DEFY+, on the other hand, has a 1 GHz CPU unit that runs on Android 2.3 operating system. This makes DEFY+ far more competitive than the older version. However, the advantages of Motorola DEFY do not end on these tow upgrades. In fact, the DEFY+ has more features that would make smartphone freaks drool. For instance, the DEFY+ has a bigger battery with a 1700 mAh cell that are capable of giving a talktime of 7.1 hours as well as a 16-day standby time. This is very advantageous since an Android OS requires a much longer battery life.
Durability and Rugged Looks
In terms of durability, the DEFY+ has a more rugged look compared to its older version. Designed to IP67 standards, it can resist dust, water, and scratches. Though not that totally indestructible, the DEFY+ is no doubt a tough smartphone to beat. Its Gorilla Glass screen makes it one of the most durable mobile phones manufactured by Motorola to date.
The DEFY+ only measures 107 x 59 x 13.4 mm. It only weighs 118gms. It has a TFT capacitive touchscreen that measures 3.7 inches. With a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, you can expect a more enhanced viewing experience with the Motorola DEFY+. Its 5 megapixel camera with a 2592?1944 pixel resolution feature lets you enjoy Geo-tagging and better image stabilization. Certified water and dust-proof for up to 30 minutes, the Motorola DEFY+ is definitely a smartphone that is built for the kill.
